Recently, I had an unpleasant
experience where I was tricked by a fake elon musk twitter account.

I am a fan of elon musk since elon bought twitter for USD44 B .Online, i would like or make comments on post about elon musk. one time, elon messaged me to ask when I became his fan, my reply: about the time you bought twitter and I learned that you bought twitter not for money but for freedom of speech.

Because of that chat, My guard was down when an elon musk account would message me and I would be in a message exchange with an account with elon musk profile pic and name.

The first time a fake elon musk tried to scam me, I did not lose money because fake elon musk made the mistake to say that he talked to our prime minister, philippines does not have a prime minister, we have president. so I was not tricked to give money I thought Elon is too smart to make a mistake on a detail like that.

Recently,I saw elon musk follow me so I followed back, it’s a fake elon musk account with only 5 followers.He sent me message thru DM and ask to move to google chat so I gave him my gmail to allow gchat. he asked me to message him first. I did that and started chat over google chat. He then said for being a fan, he has a surprise for me. I said I don’t need money. personally, am uncomfortable to take money which I did not work for. i am used to the idea that one has to work for money. there is a chinese saying, there is no free lunch.

scammer started asking about where I live, I said Philippines , then asked if I live alone, I replied, I live in the house of a friend because I suffered stroke in 2014 and my youngest brother beat me up
after spending all my money.

Scammer then asked if I have trust wallet, I said I have downloaded it before when a fake elon musk account tried to scam me. but have not used it , no idea what it’s about. He then said he will teach me how to use it. Since how trust wallet works is unknown to me. I am the kind of person who would put in time or money to learn something I don’t know. so I went along with it.

Step by step , this fake elon musk walk me through setting up of trust wallet. he would ask me to takescreenshot to send to him on what i am seeing on my screen. at first , the wallet showed zero then he said He is upset becauseI was lying, to which I reacted, how did I lie, He said he sent me money

this is how wallet looks that show $ 95 k sent, he then said but I have to buy a card issued by Tesla , price is P10k or USD 200, he asked if that is ok, I said yes, I was willing to spend USD 200 to know what will be outcome. I asked my friend to give me P10k . my funds is handled by my friend in whose house I stay.

scammer was pestering me to pay I gave in to P1000 first since I have that available in my snack allowance 🤓

Scammer agreed to P1000 first the balance of P9000 to be paid by Monday

I messaged all my friends who I thought could have P9k in their gcash account, nobody has because gcash also had a recent scam.

I said I will ask God for a sign if to proceed because a friend told me I could be used for money laundering activities. i am very clear in my principles. I will never be part of anything illegal. i read on amlac rules. my friend said i would be asked to withdraw fund then deposit to another acccount. I made a mental note , I will never do that.

video explained that there is really no money in the wallet, amount is watch only.

come Monday, sign was a clear no so I told the scammer who told me that if I did not proceed with the card, I have to return all
the money. I agreed. What I was disagreeable with was to withdraw money then send back via gcash because that is clearly an act to violate money laundering policies$95 k is over P5 M

I told scammer that money shud be returned via wallet so he has to reverse it.

I will not withdraw and make deposit.

Scammer said he is upset that i tell him how i will return money, i said, Be upset all
you want, am not stupid to be used for illegal activities

He said he will talk to our president and send me to jail. I replied, Ur an idiot to threaten me with jail,I understand the law I want to see what you present in court to show that you gave me money. the real elon musk will not make stupid threats like that

I blocked scammer in twitter and google chat, I checked the twitter account, it only has 5 followers, the real elon musk account has 146M followers, has a blue check mark and a twitter logo beside the name

now, I am blocking all elon musk accounts with less than a million followers

I always enjoyed God’s protection from bad situations, i wondered why I had to lose P1000 to
this scam, i have to be made aware of this scam to help spread awareness

​please share this blog to your friends to help spread awareness.per a BBC article, an IT guy lost 400k pounds worth of bitcoins to this scam someone on twitter replied to my post that he also lost bitcoins and $20 k but was able to get it back.

i am fine with loss of P1000 or $20. i can afford $20 what I don’t like is It made me feel stupid and I look like a fool

rule is never give money to get big money, I broke this rule , thst was why I lost $20. Lesson learnt 😠
